The following additional championship swards for. the Sydenham Methodist chrysanthemum show, held on Tuesday, • are to hand: —Pot plants, Miss R. Billens; pot plants (amateur), Miss R. Billens; decorative, L. J. Moore; vegetables, Miss R. Billens'; fruit, Miss R. Billens; preserves, Miss A. Wise; home industries. Miss R. Billens; children' home indutries, Edith Woottbn; limerick, Mrs -B; Metson 1, Miss C. C011e".2 1e ". 2 - , . . iu" ■ . - ■'• .'■'■' At the conclusion of the prize-giving ceremony a vote of thaks was unanimously passed to Mrs M. 'R. Stevens,- whose energetic work as secretary for the past five years had done much to make the' shows a success. - She was presented'.with a case of cutlery and a bouquet of flowers.
Sir Oliver Lodge, speaking at th» Royal Society of Arts last . month, said: "I do not. know whether it has struck you how wonderful it is tdiat people can play golf as they do. There is a tremendous co-ordination between vision and muscle." Professor ElliotSmith said that it was the swing of a golf club which indicated skill, and not the distance which a ball was struck.
