The Communist procession in celebration of May Day Was a poor affair in Sydney. Crowds of unemployed gathered on the street oorners and watched it pass, but declined invitations to take part. Speeches of a fiery nature wore delivered in the Domain. The police arrested 17 Communists who attempted to parade without permission at Glebe. ' A tame demonstration was also held in Melbourne, but there were no disturbances. NO SERIOUS DISTURBANCES AT TOKIO. (Heceived May 2nd, 12.25 a.m.) TOKIO, May 1. As a precautionary measure, 200 trouble-makers were imprisoned during the night at Tokio. Labour Day passed off without serious disturbances. The processions were escortod by 5000 police, who enforced order. A thousand women participated in the processions.
