NEW ZEALAND CLUB.
COMMITTEE MEETING.
At a meetinp of the committee of the New Zealand Whippet Racing Club there were present: Meter* J. B, D. John* (chair man), V. J. Drake, G, Biltcliff, W. ?. Gronfell, M. Robin (son, 11. J. Fitsiimwone, and Mrs F.| E. Blltoll? (Hon. secretary). It waa decided that the Batter meeting should be held at the New Brighton trotting ground on April 26th, and that the main event, the race for the Batter Cup, prevented by Mr W. R. M. Irwin, should be over 300 yds, with an eighteen yards limit. The stake it to be £lO, the second dog to receive £3. it was alto decided that a hurdle race of 300 yards over six flights of hurdlet should take place at the same meeting, and should carry a stake of £6, The New Zealand Whippet Derby, the blue ribbon event of the year, will alto take place at the Easter meeting, being restricted to dogs and bitches under the age of twelve months on the day of the rase. All com' petitors start off scratch, and in addition to the blue ribbon, whioh will be presented by Mrs F, E." Bilteliff, it was decided to allocate £5 to the race as prise-money. After some ditentsion it was decided to inttruct the elub's handicapper that, in connexion with the faster Cup Race, all dogs receiving eighteen yards or lets in open eom« pany are to be placed on their true marks, and that any dogt receiving more than eighteen yards in open company are to be handicapped on eighteen yards. The handicaps of flrst class dogs are not to be affected in any way by the inclusion of seoond-olasi dogs In the race. It was also decided to forward a remit to the National Association recommending it to reconsider the scale of allowances granted to puppies at their first start.
