LONDON, March 26. t A poignant and little-known tragedy of the war was recalled on tne arrival at Chatham of the remains of 1 an officer' and 57 mien, victims ol B H.M.S. Glatton, a monitor of 6700 j tons, which, within eight weeks of the s Armistice, caught fire in Dover Hart bour. There was no chance of saving j her, therefore, in order to prevent f the magazines from exploding and creating widespread havoc, the monitor was deliberately torpedoed and more than one hundred out of the 303 officers and men who were aboard were sacrificed in order to prevent much greater loss. The vessel has now been raised and the skeletons recovered will be buried with naval honours in Gillingham Cemetery on May 3rd.
