Assessment Court. A sitting of the Assessment Court for the borough of Lyttelton was held yesterday, Mr H. A. Young, S.M., presiding. There were no objections to the assessments and the, Magistrate accordingly signed tho valuation, roll. - Magistrate's Court. Mr'll. A. Young, S.M., presided at the ' Magistrate's Court yesterday. Patrick Conlon, formerly a member of the crew of the steamer Golden West, was charged, on remand, with having landed in New Zealand without a permit. Mr J. . Garrard. representing Meysrs' Kinsey and Co., Ltd., the agents for the ship, ■aid he had been advised by the Customs Department that the Department would not insist on the £IOO bond, and he asked that the charge be withdrawn. The Application was granted. The Lyttelton Borough Council (Mr A. Wright) proceeded against Janette Eli.ia Perry (Mr G. Smithson) for having erected a washhouse contrary to the building by-laws of the borough. Evidence was given by H. H. Barnard, borough engineer, that a technical offence had been committed. After lengthy argument, Mr Smithson entered a plea of guilty. Defendant was convicted without penalty or costs. Xiodge Meeting. The Juvenile Oddfellows' Lodge held its fortnightly meeting on Tuesday, N.G. Bro. S. Dromgoole presiding over a large attendance. The N.G. of the adult lodge, Bro. R Strnchan, was welcomed as tho new member of the executive. The election of officers resulted as follows: G.M., Bro. S. Dromgoole; N.G., Bro. H. McDonald; V.G., Bro. G. Tyro; E.S., Bro. I. Dromgoole; conductor, Bro. J. Tyro; warden, Bro. J. Smith, inside guard,' Bro. .T. Bennetts: outside guard, Bro. S. Ayers. 'N.G. Bro. S. Dromgoole then presented the Lodge with the swimming cup won by members who competed against the various lodges at the graving dock. It was proposed' that Bros. A. Nolan, R. Scott, S. Forsyth, and'C. Kay be presented with a jewel in recognition of their services as N.G. Trinity Men's Hockey Club. The adjourned annual meeting of the Trinity Men's Hockey Club was held on Tuesday, Mr A. L.
