THE CANADIAN TEAM. A LEAVE-TAKING LETTER. \ [THE PRESS Special Bervice.J DUNEDIN, February 13. The following is the copy of a letter received by Mr R. Hanning, secretary of the Dominion Bowling Association, from Dr. Krupp, manager of tho Canadian bowling team, which recently visited Dunedin, and Mr W. B. Cowan, secretary for the touring party: "The Canadian lawn bowling team, as it leaves the shores of your beautiful island, desires to thank your Association and all its members, also the civic authorities and other organisations in the cities and towns visited, for the generous hospitality and many kindnesses shown to us, and also the Tourist Department of your Government, who supplied us with special coaches, rind made our travel so oomfortable from end to end of your country. "There has now been completed the first visit of a team of bowlers from Canada. We, at an early datej shall return to Canada imbued with enthusiasm for your 'Emerald Isle of the South,' and shall look forward to an 'early return visit of your representative bowlers to our homeland. The members of our party are from the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia. 21 from the former and 7 from the latter, and although, as groups, we live apart some 2000 miles, we have been brought closer together as Canadians. and as a unit we feel that the ties of kinship with you in New Zealand have been drawn firmer by our visit here. We have made many friends here and have been delighted to meet many who have come long distances to shake hands and enquire as to friends in Canada. We know that these friendships will be lasting, and that the ties of Empire will be stronger for our sojourn here. "We especially are thankful to the Press'for the prominence which it has given to our tour, and desire to compliment it on the generous space which \i glV t es I , to bowl 'ng in your country. }Y® S ™l carry to our homes happv thoughts and dear memories of all that fre have e.een, of our Eames played, whether we lost or won, with the hope that we have done something to promote stood sport, and we think there is no .place where such is better illustrated than on a bowling creen We have found the game of bowls played as it should be played in your country, and we must not fail to nay tribute to your wonderful greens all so charmingly located amidst floWers and shrubs. We are sure that we shall take back high standards for both the game and greens to our clubs in Canada, "We are pleased to hnve heard many exnrossions with regard to the 'good' which our visit has done, and in saving 'Kin Ora,' we wish your Association further success and prosperity, and we hope that we may meet many of your members ere long in Canada.'*
