"THE HONEYMOON GIRL."

SPARKLING COMEDY. NEW OPERA HOUSE. Although "The Honeymoon Girl" is the last production Jim Gerald and his Revue Company will produce in Christchurch for some time, they have not let this fact interfere with their acting and dancing. The Honeymoon Girl" is a sparkling production. Jim Gerald as Mumps, the Boots of an hotel, has created a character that has probably never existed before, either on or off the stage. It is not so much the appear-, ance of Mumps, which at times is almost ludicrous, as his humorous personality which puts the audience into fits of laughter at Ins every appearance. In many musical comedies, if a plot does exist, it is usually trifling or else so well camouflaged as to be invisible to an ordinary person. This is not the case with Ihe Honeymoon Girl." There is an amusing and well-considered plot which becomes more and more involved as the comedy progresse and is finally straightened out by an amazing series of strokes of good fortune m the last scene in the honeymoon chateau. The singing is quite up to the standard one would expect in such a production. 1 Said Oh!" by Jim Gerald, "One Little Boy by Miss Lily Coburn, and "For To-night by Miss Linda Foy and Tom Dale deserve special mention. . Also the dancing is excellent »n«. every respect. The ballets by the, chorus in particular and the whole company in general, are beautifully synchronised and leave no loophole for criticism. The frockings and settings throughout are magnificent, at times almost gorgeous, and they are well set off by the decidedly novel presentation of the lighting effects. '.'The Honeymoon Girl," containing as it does bright, catchy, and melodious music and real humour is a genuine musical comedy which Christchurch theatre goers can ill afford to miss.
