PATRIOTIC FUND.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The executive of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund met yesterday afternoon, Mr H. Holland, M.P., presiding. Others present were: Messrs C. J. R. Williams, J. F. Priest, F. M. Warren, W. A. Carpenter, F. W. Hobbs, E. F. Williams, and Heslop. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Dudley Richards, J. J. Dougall, J. S. Simpson, and C. W. Hervey. Reference was made to the death of Mr W. W. Charters, members standing in silence. A cheque for £IOO, which had been received from the National War Funds Council on January 3rd, 1930, had been paid to the Returned Soldiers' Association, under authority of a resolution of August 10th, 1927. This was approved. A debenture for £SOO, Waimairi County Council, January Ist, 1930, had matured. This was remitted to the Finance Committee, with power to act. A cheque for £SOO received from the Canteen and Regimental Trust Board, in repayment of a temporary loan granted by the Fund to the Returned Soldiers' Association was acknowledged. The treasurer's statement and the report of the Applications Committee were received and adopted. The secretary's report, which was also received and adopted, showed the following particulars of the Fund's activities during the four months, October, 1929, to January, 1930: Cases dealt with .. 1031 Interviews (secretary's office) 460 Applications dealt with by Committee .. 251 Correspondence (outward envelopes only) .. 744 Lady visitors' report .. 4 The chairman extended a hearty welcome to Mr Jesstp, from the Bilesmere County Council.
