CLOSER SETTLEMENT.
WAIKATO PROPERTY PURCHASED.
[THE PBESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, February 12. The purchase by the Government for closer settlement of 900 acres of land at Waerenga, 15 miles from Te Kauwhata, the property of Mr J. lliddell, jun., was announced in Hamilton to-day. The Lands Department will take possession on April Ist. The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr K. M. Graham) will visit the area on Friday, and will arrange for the subdivision of th« land into seven sections.
