; PERSONAL, i (waoxjx TO THB PBXSS.) GREYMOUTH, February 11. At a,special meeting of the Westland Hospital Board, held last evening at Hokitika, Sister Strongman, of the Blenheim Hospital, was appointed to the position of matron of \he Westland Hospital out of ten applicants. Sister Strongman comes from Cobden. The Rev. H. Neison Wright (Hokitika), chaplain of the 13th Regiment, proceeds to camp this week. He will be absent about ten days. Mr T. J. O'Callaghan, of the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, is being transferred to the Nelson branch as accountant. Mr O'Callaghan was well known m athletic circles when stationed at Greymouth a few years ago. Mr H. L. Jamieson, whp has been visiting Greymouth, returned to-day to Christchurch. Mr G. M. Jypp, of the Thames Valley Power Board's engineering staff, is visiting Greymouth. Mr J. E. Barnes, of the Railway Department Office, Greymouth, left this moir*iig for Christchurch. Mrs J. Pascoe and Miss K. Pascoe and Mrs W. H. and Miss Boucher, left today for Christchurch on a holiday visit. Weddings. The wedding was solemnised at St. Stephen's Church, Eeefton, on Monday, of Vera, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Kriihmer, Blaekspoint, to William, only' son of Mr and Mrs W. Russell, Hukarere. The bride wore a frock of pink crepe satin, with lace cape collar and e pink embroidered veil with orange blossom buds, and a coronet. She wore silver court shoes with stockings to match, and carried a bouquet of pale pink flowers. The bride was attended by her sister Norma, whose frock was of pale heliotrope celanese trimmed with tucks She wore a silver band and tulle bow as head dressing. Her bouquet wa3 of heliotrope tweet peas. Mr L. Krimmer attended as best man. The Rev. Mr Brockland performed the ceremony. The bride's parents afterwards entertained the wedding guests, the bridal couple leaving by train en route for Christchurch, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a fawn tweed costume with small hat and shoes and stockings to match. The wedding took place this morning at Holy Trinity Church, of Alan Frederick, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr T. Jamieson, to Mavis Annie, daughter of Mrs M. Moss, Greymouth. The Ven. Archdeacon Jermyn officiated. The bride wore a frock of tea-rose georgette, with parchment lace, and was attended by Miss Myrtle Wood, who wore lime georgette. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Mervyn Jamieson, as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's mother. . . Mrs and.Mr Jamieson left later by the express, the bride travelling in a crepe satin coat over an embroidered geo"?ette frock. - Eifle Snooting. The Grey Defence Eifle Club's third competition' for the Kaiapoi Co.'s trophy was won by Rifleman G. Joyce with a score of 92. The conditions were 10 shots at 300 yds, and 11 shots at 600 yds. Rifleman Higgins was runnerup with 90.

Motor-cyclist Injured. A young man, J. Bouse, a miner, living at Bunanga, met with an accident on Sunday 'afternoon when riding his motor-cycle along the Kotuku .road. The machine skidded in some'lobse shingle* causing the rider to lose control, and he was thrown heavily to the' ground, receiving cuts and bruises and, it is believed, a fractured collarbone.. Man in Coal Waggon. While a coal hopper waggon was being filled at the Eewanui State mine yesterday afternoon, groans from the interior indicated the presence of a man. The doors underneath the waggon were opened, and when the coal was shovelled away a man was found. He bad evidently got into the waggon to have a sleep while the waggon was en; route from Greymouth. He was little the worse for the adventure. . •"> ' Bnrnbam Camp. A party of 45 West Coast territorial N.C.O.'s and officers, including 22 from Greymouth, lef j; this morning to undergo training at Burnham. Lieutenant A. J. Moore, of Greymouth, was in charge. A further detachment will leaye later in the week. Lambs to Canterbury. Thirty-two double-decker trucks of lambs were railed to Addington market to-day, a further 400 being sent to Islington. Schoolboy Injured. An accident occurred yesterday at Greymouth Main school. Gordon Whitta was sitting on top. of one of the concrete approaches leading into the Bcbool, when another boy stumbled against him with the result that the former fell heavily on.- the asphalt, striking his head. Cycling. A. cycling road race from Greymouth to Paroa and back—a distance of ten miles —took place this evening, and attracted starters. The final stages were filled with much interest owing to the cyclists finishing in the front section clapping on the pace w>en the tar-sealed portion of the roa<& was. reached. W. Innis was first, ,o.' Corbin second, M. .Swift third, and iC'Greaney fourth. . H. Turtill, from scratch, finished alone in fifth place, putting up. the best time, and covering the distance in 24min 43sec. The winner's time was 25min 49sec. Complimentary Concert. A complimentary concert was tendered this -evening to Miss" Mary Martin, A.T.C.L., a young violinist, who leaves on Thursday with her parents, Mr and Mrs, J* F." Martin, for London, where she will.take a three years* scholarship course at the Eoyal College of Music. During the evening the Mayor (Mr J. W.
