SPEEDWAY MEETING.
MONICA PARK. Every patron at Monica Park Speedway this season is undoubtedly a keen supporter of the sport of broadsiding, since every week bigger crowds attend. All testify to a splendid two hours' entertainment and allow only doubtful weather or very P re ® a , ing engagements to keep them away. Weather conditions do not count as much as some people imagine, however, for so sheltered are the seats of the Stadium that winds do not worry patrons Wet weather, of course, means postponement of the racing, but on any dry summer's night the Speedway is undoubtedly the entertainment to patronise. The programme for the special New Year carnival to-night will provide real thrills for the public. Where could two more evenlymatched, brilliant rider 9 be found than in Perabo and Perkins, the two Australians who gave such a wonderful exhibition last week? To-night they will meet again, and Perabo is determined to turn the tables. Another exciting event will be the Gold Sash match race between Jack Carter (present holder) and Fred Sharman (challenger). The other events are likely to prove equally as thrilling, so this should be a bright beginning for the 1930 racing season.
