RADIO CONVENTION.
TRANSMITTERS* ASSOCIATION. (pews association AUCKLAND, JWmbor 28. The Association of Radio Transmitters' first annual convention at, Auckland approved of an organised radio chain to be established early mi the new year. Mr Brown, of CThrmtchunh, the chairman, t>aid that its «rcat n#ed had ben demonstrated during the recent earthquakes in th® South Island, when a definite relay system could have given valuable assistance. Tbo chain could be made available to the IVwt and Telegraph Department during any interruption of communication* through storm* or other cause*. The strength of tho Association was 260 members, and was rapidly increasing It was agreed that Sunday evening be the principal night, telegraph offifO* being then closed. The finalmation of the scheme was left to a special committee.
A ballot resulted in the election »t Mr Clarkfcon, of I>unedin, a* Dominion president, and Mr Edwards, of Auckland, rice-president. The conference headquarters next Tftr will be Wellington.
