CHRIST'S COLLEGE.
•O THE EDITO3 O* THB PRESS. Sir,—l was astonished to read in your report of the speech of the headmaster of Christ's College, the Rev. E. C. Crosse, at the prize-giving yesterday, that "Christchurch was a place "that was full of gossip, some of it of a very mischievous kind." Sir, do you think that Christ's College or Christchurch wifl be assisted by uncharitable sentiments of this description? Later, in his speech, the headmaster recommends the example of that New Zealand product, the oyster. I would like to recommend to the •headmaster the example of the clam, the giant oyster of the South Seas, which is supposed to keep its mouth shut sometimes for as long as a year. —Yours, etc., DISGUSTED. December 17th, 1929.
