W.E.A. ACTIVITIES.
GERALDLNE SUMMER SCHOOL. The Canterbury District W.E.A. Summer School opens on Boxing Day at Geraldine. The Christchurch, North Canterbury, and Wellington students will leave by the 8.35 a.m. train on tbe 26th inst.. and at 2.30 p.m. all the students will assemble in the lecture marquee, when the Director. Professor James Shelley, will outline the plan and purpose of the school. The total enrolments are 82. and the staff numbers cine. There are 41 students from Christchurch and suburbs, 23 from Dunedin, 7 from Wellington, 5 from Timani, 3 from Oamaru. and one each from Methven, Rangiora, and Ashbnrton. The Summer School will be organised on the gronads of the Geraldine primary school, where the lecturer and dining marquees, wiil be erected. The women students will camp tn the school grounds, and the men in the Eiomain. The Summer School has been sue cessful in securing the services of Miss G. Ferguson, 8.A., who will take charge of the folk dancing, and the concert programmes. The bursary scheme outlined by the Canterbury District Council of the W.E.A. is to be submitted for approval to a meeting of the tutorial class committee to be held tomorrow evening. It will then be submitted for final approval to the Board of Governor* of Canterbury College.
