EAST CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOL.

At the monthly meeting of the ICast Cliristchurch District School Committee titer© were present: Messrs Kosindale (chairman), Maddren, Atkinson, Stokes, Dams, ilrs McFariane, 3nd the headmaster. Correspondents was received from the Education Board recommending Miss M. H. Watson for the position of senior assistant mistress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Sorensen. The Board nlso advised that the Education Department had sanctioned ths building of two open-air classrooms for the retardate class. (This building is now under construction.) The fence on Gloucester and Barbadoes streets frontage would be repaired and repainted both sides. The headmaster reported that two boys and seven girls had been admitted, while eight boys and six girls had left during November, leaving a roll number of 369 boys and 359 girls, total 728, with an average attendance of 677. or about S2_per cent. The dental nurse advised that 33 1 pupils from the main school had received attention, whiie 36 were sent in from Richmond School. School prizes were authorised, and also a Christmas tree for the infants school. The Visiting Committee reported that the schools were in very gr,p,i order. Some minor repairs were necessarv, which would have prompt attention. Messrs Stokes and Baird were appointed to the Visiting Committee, to report on Febr-asrv Srd. A jumble sale resulted in about £4O being raised.
