WALTHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Tbe Waltham School Committee met on Thursday. Present: Messrs J. J. Hurley (chairman), Messrs C. Small, F. Legge, A. Blackler, S. Bull, W. Haden, 0. Murray, N. Sturroek, and A. J. Wickes. The headmaster reported that the average attendance for the term ending August S3rd was 557. The Canterbury School Committees' Association wrote asking that consideration be given to the question of arranging for the school holidays Jo. be taken in July instead of August. It \vas decided that the needs of the children would be best served by the term holidays remaining as at preeent. The inspectors' report whs favourably commented upon, and a vote of thanks was accorded the \ eadmasipr and (.faff. Refo-t* from Un? sub-committee of the school fair were of a very gratifying nature.
