to Tax swToa or T*a nzss. Sir,—-A local in your valuable paper this morning states that the general rate in Walmairi County has increased very little. This is liable to give a false impression and mislead people contemplating building in the district. I am the owner of a five-roomed bungalow and three-eighths of an acre of land, and my total rates for 1928-29 amounted to £l3 3s. This year my total indebtedness is £l9 14s lid. For the benefit of those interested I am giving the items for comparison:— 1938-29. 1929-30. • £ a. d. £ ». d.
