"I rather like the idea of toasting the Alliance of Labour," said Mr T. O. Bishop, secretary of the Dominion Federation of Employers, at the annual reunion of the Taranaki Association in New Plymouth, reports the "Taranaki Daily News." "After all, why should we not do sof We coni£ in contact wit'n the officials of the Alliance day after day, and negotiate many agreements with them. Personally, I tike some of those officials very much." The remarks arose out of a joeular reference to the Federation as the Alliance of Labour when Mr L. A. Nolan was proposing the toast. Mr Bishop said he had never before heard of the Alliance being toasted at an employers' dinner, but he suggested that in future the toast should be placed on the list, and that a representative of the workers ehonld be invited to respond. Mr Bishop said that when he returned to Wellington he would tell Mr Roberts, secretary of the Alliance, that he had been toaated by the employers.
