MONOPLANE CRASHES AT CONEY ISLAND. (united press association—by electric TELESBAPH —COPYRIGHT.) (Received September Bth, 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 7. A heavy seven-passe er monoplane, which became lost in the fog and ran out of petrol, plunged down into the surf at Coney Island to-day when the beach was crowded with 500,000 persons, it being one of the hottest days this year. Two children were killed and several other persons were injured. There is a possibility that the monoplane swept several bathers under the water to their death. The pilot, who was alone in the machine, was only scratched. A scene of indescribable confusion resulted, and mounted police were necessary to restore order.—Australian Press Association.
