CANTERBURY MOUNTED RIFLES.
♦ ANNUAL REUNION. One of the fixtures of Grand National Week that is looked forward to by many with much anticipatory pleasure is the reunion of the members of the Canterbuiy Mounted Rifles. Recruited from Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, and the West Coast, the C.M.R. was formed on August 12th. 1914. and was disbanded on September 9tli, 1919. It comprised three squadrons representing the three mounted Territorial Regiments, and formed the right of the line of the Mounted Brigade of the N.Z.E.F. They served throughout the war under Colonel John Findlay C.8., D.S.O , a very capable leader, who retains the respect and friendship of all who served under him. The esprit-de-corps of the C.M.R. is shown by the fact that the tenth consecutive annual reunion is to be held in the Jellicoe Hall on the evening of tlio 13th inst. That a body of men who represent all sections of the community and whose friendships were formed and cemented during the years of war still foregather to show their interest in each other's welfare is a remarkable tribute to the old regiment and to the memory of those who have passed away.
