A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

NORTHERN. The General Committee of the Northern A. and P. Association met at Rangiora, Mr R. Peach presiding. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mr A. Judson. The resignations were received and accepted of Messrs J. N. Boag, L. Holborough, H. A. Bullock, and J. Garland. The resignation of Mr J. McGrath was held over. The Hon. Mr Forbes wrote stating that no decision as to a further experimental area in the Canterbury district would be come to until the committee had placed its views before him. The Chamber of Commerce wrote stating that arrangements had been made with the Lincoln Agricultural College to issue monthly a journal on agriculture, and asking the Association to give its support in the matter. It was decided not to take any action in the matter, and a motion was passed endorsing the action of the secretary in writing to the Chamber of Commerce pointing out that the cost of the pamphlets was too high. The North Canterbury Jersey Cattle Club wrote that at the last annual meeting of the club it was decided to give £l3 15s as special prizes in the registered Jersey classes, to .be competed for 'by bona fide financial members of the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association. Messrs W. Smith (Fernside) and Colin Mcintosh were nominated for election to the Wheat Electoral Committee. The Royal Show Society wrote asking support in a protest against the new taxation proposals, and a committee was set up consisting of Messrs E. D. R. Smith, C. Mcintosh, A. M. Carpenter, with the president and vice-presidents, to go into the matter and frame a report. It was decided to approve of the suggestion of the Finance Committee that a committee be set np to make some effort to raise funds to reduce the mortgage on the building, and to report on the most suitable means of raising the money. Mr Colin Mcintosh brought before the Association a communication he had received from Mr Snell in reference to the starting of a Rural Credits Association. Mr Snell would be pleased to come to Rangiora and address a meeting on the subject. It was decided that arrangements be made for a meeting at some convenient date. Advice was received that Mr R. McGilli▼ray, Government Agricultural Instructor, would give an address to farmers on August 29th. It was decided that the recommendations of the Grounds Committee for alterations to buildings and other necessary improvements on the show grounds be left over. The recommendation to cut down . cer * a "j trees, which were supposed to be diseased was referred back to the committee. The Finance Committee reported receipts since last meeting to have been £ll4 4s, and payments £l3O 9a, leaving a debit balance of £ls 15s. Messrs T. Ager, 15. Borman, and H. Archer were elected members of the Assoc. tion, and _ Messrs A. Scott and T. White v—e nominated for membership.
