The half-yearly meeting of the Sydenham and Suburban Money Club was held last evening at the club's rooms, Colombo street South. Mr G. W. J. Parsons presided over a fair attendance * The chairman commented on the fact that the rate of interest had fallen slightly during the half-year, and pointed out the general causes wh:ch had made this policy a necessary one ior the committee to follow. He .neutioned also the complimentary letter which had been received from the club's auditors, in whicli they had remarked favourably on the work of thd club u staff during the year. The membership had increased by 80 during that period. The balance-sheet ard general report of the club's activities were then presented by the club's secretary, Mr V. Hunt, and were i received without comment. The balance-sheet showed that the cash receipts totalled x 22,&31 lis 4d, while the balance 3t the bank was £2130 Os 6d. Total assets, including deposits at the P.C Savings Bank and loans, were £111,021 lis 2d. A vote of thanks to the committee, auditors, and staff in appreciation of their excellent work was then carried unanimously. STANDARD INSURANCE, LIMITED. ANNUAL REPORT. [THE PRESS Special Service.] DUNEDIN, August 6. The annual report of the directors of Standard Insurance, Ltd., states that the income from all sources for the year amounts to £361,242 3s id. to which has to be added the balance brought forward from last year, £17,147 9s. The surplus on the year's operations, after making full provision for all ascertained losses to June 30th, payment of an interim dividend, donation to the Guarantee and Provident Fund, depreciation of properties, and the allocation of £IO,OOO to the reserves fund, amounts to £31.618 12s. Out of this surplus the directors recommend the payment of a dividend at the rate of Is 3d per share, absorbing £12,500, and to carry forward to next year the balance of £19,118 12s. RANGIORA MARKET. There was « full attendance at the Rangiora market yesterday, but although there will be no sale next week, the entry of live stock was comparatively small, there being 241 sheep, 35 head of cattle, and 65 pigs yarded. Amongst the sales of sheep were: — Sixty-sound mouth ewes at 24s Bd, 25 at 22s 9d, 37 at 335. 67 aged ewes at 18s. 23 at 16s Id, 10 fat wethers at Sis 4d, 8 at 43s 9d, 3 at 355. In the cattle pens best springers sold at £8 10s to £l2 10s, others £4 to £7 15s, cow in profit £6 17s 6d to £9, store cows £6 to £6 16s. REEFTON, August 6. The return for the Blackwater Mines, Ltd., for July is as follows:—Crushed, 3100 tons, yielding 1085 fine ounces of gold, valued at £4608; working expenses, £4520. In addition the furnace treated 80 tons of concen trates for a return of 70 fine ounces of gold, valued at £297; working expenses, £154; capital expenditure, £185; development expenditure, £518; loss over all, £472.
