ACQUISITION OF LAND.
COUNCIL GRANTS AUTHORITY
"The City Engineer has been nego tiating with Mr C. V. Pruden and Mrt C. A. Prnden with a view to acquiring a strip of land from the frontogt their properties in connexion with the boulevard scheme," reported the Worl* Committee t<f the City Council last evening. "A letter has now beenreceived from Mr and Mrs Pruden's solicitor intimating that the State Advance* Department, which is mortgagee for both the properties, has agreed to the transfy of the neo.'ssary land on the understanding that the following amount* are paid :—Mr Prnden's property : Payment to State O Advances Department in reduction of mortgage, £6O: compensation for loss of rent, £lO. Mrs Pru den's property —Purchase money, £2O; compensation for loss of rent, £lO. Total, £9O.
"The total amount involved, inelud ing the cost of setting back both houses for a distance of 30ft from the new boundary is £5lB 12s, but the amount in excess of the £9O already referred to is provided on the unemployment relief schedule. '"'As the purchase of a portion of these properties will make it possible for the whole of this section of the boulevard to be completed, the committee asks for authority for the expenditure of this sum of £90." The report waa adopted.
