RESOUNDING TAXI CRASHES.
PASSERS-BY ALARMED. INCIDENTS IN CHRISTCHURCH. All dav, pedestrians passing along different'parts of the City were somewhat alarmed at a series of taxi crashes and naturally followed the crowds to investigate. They discovered ! that a new firm of Taxis, known as ' the Gold Band Taxis and running a large fleet, has entered into competition with the others, and the scenes of excitement were on the local taxi stands where the new firm's cabs were parked. The crowds became quite excited when they learned what was the cause of it all and you could hear evervone telling each other that there was" nothing seriously wrong except that the Gold Band Taxis had smashed the local taxi fares by less than hair the present-day fares. Some of the remarks passed were as follows: — 'The Gold Band Taxis will do me, they are all new, up-to-date Sedans; and better still, supposing we were going on a 10-mile journey with five passengers the present charges would be 355, but bv taking a Gold Band Taxi it would be only 10s, which is only 6d per mile there and back, so why pay more i Fancy the present charges from midnight to 6 &.m mean double fares, but if vera ride in a Gold Band Taxi the fares are just the same night or dav and you can get one at any hour of the night." The proprietor of the tola Band Taxis will leave it to the readers of this paper as to whether they should go elsewhere and pay more or 'phone 9257 and 9413, and ride in a Gold Band Taxi and save money. Read our advertisement on page 8 ot this paper regarding fares, etc. Thank you. Gold Band Taxis also at Oamaru. Dunedin, and Inver car gill. —°
