I BRACKENFIELD HOUNDS. I 4 MEET AT ROTHERHAM. Owing to wet "weather hounds did not meet at Wsiau on Wednesday as bad been arranged, but, in order to give those enthusiasts who had waited for the Waiau "meet" an opportunity of witnessing the hounds in action, a, hunt was held at the five cross-roads, Botherham. Scent was patchy, and hares were rather numerous, but nevertheless several good runs over the properties of i_essrs P. A. Thomson, J. F. Banks, and K. L. Jameso- were obtained. Hounds cast off on the property of Mr J. F. Banks, and the-e were several short runs, but in every case hounds had to be whipped'off owing to fresh hares getting up, causing the pack to split. Then a hare which promised a better run was set afoot, but* unfortunately hounds chopped her, and her remains were hung on a wire fence, this, of course, not being credited as a "kill." Trying Mr Banks's native again, hounds were soon in full cry, ana after a sharp run of a mile and a half without a check ''puss" was polled down in the open. A short breather was now taken, and after refreshments had been served another start was made. Several paddocks of Mr B. L. Jameson were tried but drawn blank. Harking back to the cross-roads, Huntsman Ferguson tried a grass paddock of Mr P. A. Thomson. A good strong hare was soon afoot, which, with hounds in full cry, took a direct line from the cross-roads to the long plantation. Here hounds checked, but, working true to line, soon bustled "pnss" into the open again, where she turned left-handed and made back towards the starting point. Hounds again checked, but for a little time only. Once more their quarry made for the plantation, but was pulled down in full view of the straight goers. "Puss"' was broken up in view 01 all followers, j After a few minutes' breather hounds j were "packed up," and all adjourned to ! the residence of Mr and Mrs P. A. j Thomson, where they were hospitably j entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs j Thomson and Mrs P. Morse. j Among those riding were:—The Deputy-Master, K. Simpson on Aeroplane, Miss Norton on Foam, Miss Masefield on a black, Miss A eland on Mimi, M. Bethell on Skilful, R. Bethell o. Peaceful, Dr. Snr on Peggy, P. R. Dearden on All Form, I.
