ADDITIONAL CLASS-ROOM.

LINWOOD AVENUE SCHOOL.

By the erection of a third additional class-room, for which the Canterbury Education Board received authority yesterday, the congestion at the Linwood avenue School, which has during this year been coped with rather unsatisfactorily by the use of two marquees will be entirely relieved. The roll shown, during the school's short existence, a remarkable growth, and the original six buildings —all on the fresh-air principle —were quite incapable of coping with the number of pupils. In the space of a little more than a year the roll has grown from just over 200 to its present total of 443. After some delay, the construction of two additional classrooms was put in hand, and o*ie of these was occupied lor the first time last week. The other will be available for use next Monday. When the third additional room is completed there should be ample accommodation for the children for some time to come, although the roll continues to grow each month. Regarded as an improvement on the older and Temuka tvpes, the school-rooms at the Linwood avenue School have given every satisfaction. Thev differ from the Fen rl alton tvpe in thnt they have a verandah, nine feet in width, on the north side. This is glassed in at both ends, providing valuable protection from draughts.
