SPEED OF TRAMS.

# AN ARANUI PROTEST. At last evening's meeting of the Aranni Burgesses' Association it was decided to ask the Heathcote County Council to take action regarding the excessive speed of through trams on the New Brighton line. Mr B. Lo veil-Smith said that some time ago the Tramway Board had refused to make Breeze's road a compulsory stopping place. As a result heavily laden express trams were coming past the Breeze's road stop at a high rate of. speed. Be contended som<j expresses did 35 miles an hour. A motorist had expressed amazement to him at the speed of the trams. The tram line was on a dangerous angle lor motor-cars coming out of Breeze's road. Mr Lo veil-Smith moved that the matter be brought under the notice of the Tramway Board, but at the suggestion of the chairman it was decided to ask the Heathcote County Council to tako the matter up.
