ST. SAVIOUR'S ORPHANAGES
BABIES' HOME TO BE SOLD. At a meeting of St. Saviour's Guild Council held yesterday it was resolved that the Babies' Home at Sumner be put into the market for sale at once. The Council has taken this decision very reluctantly, but it feels that its present financial position demands the utmost economy in every department of the working of the homes, and that a Babies' Home might be run on more economical lines than the present Home at Sumner could ever provide. In the event of the Babies' Home at Sumner being disposed of the Guild hopes to provide up-to-date accommodation on a site and in a district to be approved of by the Council of the Guild, and to carry on elsewhere the work for destitute and ornhaned babies The Committee feels that perhaps administrative charges might be reduced bv providing accommodation for babies at the Girls' Home.
