AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
MOJfTHLY MEETING. A meeting «*!• tie Akaroa sad W&inui Boad Board was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs A. J£. Baylock (in tie chair), J. Haywaid, S. J. Vegan', K. McPhail, and A. A. Jlarbey. A motion of sympathy with the chairman is the death of his brother was carried. Mr Hayward reported that in company with Mr Narbey and the chairman he had inspected the drains from Mr S. TUxard s property, and found that the drainage from hi» pig-stye flowed on to the road. It was to write to Mr TSward and request him to "top draining hit pig-stye en to the mart Mr Vogan Drought «j> the matter of ths drain from Turner's property, and asked what was the position of the Board. It was decided to clear the existing dram and sidechannela. . . Mr McPhail said he had given permuswa to Messrs K. Rhodes and J. Skipper to get metal from the Tikao quarry. His action was approved. ... , Mr Donovan wrote asking when his road woold be metalled. It was resolved to metal the road and, if possible, Mr ~L. Giddens s road. This matter was left in Mr Vegan's bands to arrange. The chairman said another man was required on the grader, as shortage of men w»j holding up the work. It was resolved that the foreman be instructed to put on SB extra man. The clerk waa instructed to write to Sirs Bichfield. Robinson's Bay, and ask her to dear and raise the crossing on her property. The Akaroa County Council asked if the Beard would pay a proportion of the annual cost of the telephone to the clerks residence. It was resolved to accede to the The Bank of New Zealand advised that an overdraft of £3300 had been senetioaed. Mr E. Weir quoted 4s 9d per yard for procuring metal from Mr Brocherie'a and 4s 3d from the beach if the Board would put in a road. It was resolved to hold* the matter over for the present. Mr McPhail was asked to approach Mrs McDonald, Wainui, for permission to get stone oft* her property. Mrs Styehe, Mpssts A. W. Waters, and Wynn Williams. Brown, and Gre-sbn wrote regarding a road to the estate of A. J ~Le Lievw, and askinsr for the cost of construction, 'it was decided to construct (he road if the estate would pay for the land, legal expenses, fencing, and survey The chairman's mot : on that a rate of 25-32 d in the £ be struck and levied on all rateable property in the Board's district was carried.
