Lawry (Cashmere road) has returned from a holiday visit to the I North Island. ! Sir Louis and Lady Barnett (Dunedin), -Dr. and Mrs Barnett, Mr and Mrs Fraser (Mt. Benger, North Canterbury),- and Mr and Mrs Morse (North Canterbury) are amongst the guests at Warwick House. The president and committee of the St. Bede's Old Boys' Association have issued invitations for their sixth annual ball, to be held in Dixieland on Thursday, July 25th. The members of the committee are Messrs R. C. Boland, R. C. M. Sunley, and J. B. Taylor. At the Y.M.C.A. Concert Hall on Friday evening next, July 12th. at 7.30 p.m.. Miss McNee. of the Technical College, will give a practical demonstration in dressmaking, which is her special subject, to members and friends of the Home Economics' Association. As this is a subject of interest to most women, members are sure to attend in large numbers. On behalf of the Earthquake Fund a collection will be taken at the door. A verv enjOyable concert, organised by Mrs J. C. Holmes, was held at the Middle Sanatorium, Cashmere Hills, ■where the party was received by Matron L. Trumble, R.R.C. The Ferry road Convent Orchestra played pleasing selections, and youthful members of the orchestra also played instrumental trios, and one contributed violin solos. Songs were sung by Miss Waveney Bowbyes and Miss Archibald, and Mr Ronald Fisher's elocutionary items were much enjoyed. The secretary of the Social Committee thanked Mrs Holmes and the performers for the enjoyable concert, after which the party was entertained at supper. Cars for the transport of the performers were lent by Sir George Clifford, Mr J. Slack, and Mr Archibald. AND SO TO BED.
