BURWOOD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
At the monthly meeting of tho Burwood School Committee, the following were present: —Messrs J. Liggins (chairman), Robinson, R. Stevens, A. Rowland, F. Reaby, and the headmaster. The headmaster's report showed a roil number of 127, and an average attendance for the current term of 109, the poor attendance being due to the prevalence of sickness. The pianoforte classes had commenced with a roll of 26. Children had been recreated to endeavour to make contributions io the fund for the relief of earthquake The delegate was instructed to support the resolution to be moved at a general meeting of the School Committees' Association this month, protesting against the extension of dental services to private schools, until such time as the State schools had been provided f ° r it was reported that the sum of £9 2s had been raised as a result of the recent BC Sympa°thy l "was expressed with Mrs Bowles < n the death of her husband, and with the Infant mistress. Miss Hounsell. in her protracted illness.
