In Government issues 4$ tax free Stock and Bonds claimed firmer buyers at £IOO, no sellers. £lO2 10b was given for a parcel of North Canterbury Hospital Board 5} per cent. 1940 Debentures, buyers staying in at that price, sellers asking £lO3. The market for .Bank shares was firm at late rates. South British Insurance shares hardened to dealings at 68s 3d, buyers staying in at 68s, no sellers. Queensland Insurance were stronger with buyers at 63s 9d, sellers at 64s 6d. Goldsbrough Mort were taken at 47s 9d and 47s Bd. Huddart-Parkers remained at 45s 6d, market closing 45s 3d buyers, 46s sellers. New Zealand Breweries shares were firm at 78s, closing quotations 77s 6d buyers, 79s sellers. Staples Brewery shares weakened to 555, buyers and business, sellers at 55s 3d. Tooths were steady at 60s, and Timaru 5s paid shares at 8s 6d. Beath and Co. Is paid shares were fractionally firmer at 9s 3d. British Tobaccos- remained at 48 9d. Mt. Lyells advanced to 41s Bd, and closed stronger with buyers at 41s 9d, sellers at 41s 10d. Mahakipawa Goldfields shares were weaker, with dealings at 7d and 7id. Winding Creek 6d paid shares changed hands at 2s 2d, and more were offered at that price, buyers at 2s Id. N.Z.
