REFUGEES RETURN.

TOURISTS ALSO ACTIVE. A small party of men, refugees from the earthquake area, left by Saturday morning's West Coast express to return to their homes. Some were bound for Westport and a few for the Maruia and Matakitaki valleys. All were grateful for the hospitality of Christchurch people. Those who were suffering from nerves seemed to have recovered and the farmers from the Matakitaki were anxious to return to their cows, which wil! be ooming into profit in a month or so A further party will leave for the valleys round Murcbison on Thursday next, accompanied bv Cr. M. E. Lyons. Already the stricken areas are beginning to attract tourists, who, undeterred by possible dangers, are eurious to sr-o the changed landscape. Some of theee were on Saturday's express.
