PERSONAL. "Mr X. D. Burnett, M.P., was a visitor to Geraldine during last week-end. Hocicey. The following are the results of the hookey matches played in connexion with the Geraldine County Association competitions:—Southern 2 v. Temuka 1 School 0 v. Union 2. ' The ladies * match with Temuka resulted in a win for Geraldine bv 3 goals to 0. . .& w.c.T.ir. The usual monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held recently, when Mrs H. D. Zfeutae presided over a good attendance. The sum of £2 2 3 was given to the earthquake relief fund, and £1 to the executive relief fund of the Union. The Rev. W. J. Couling delivered an address, taking for his subject, the separate letters "W.C.T.U..'* and dealing with each one. Deputation to UP. On Friday Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P.. received a deputation from the Geraldine Town and District Association. The deputation vras introduced bv Dr. P. W. Hislop, and comprised Messrs J. Kennedy, J. B. Stewart, J. Steven G. A. M. Macdonald, G. H. Patrick, 'and J. Gresham. The business of the deputation was taken in committee, and on resuming it was reported that the following matters had been brought under Islr Burnett's notice:—Preservation of Walhi Bush, erection of a new Court- i house, hawkers' licenses, and shortage of trucks for carrying stock. i Mr Burnett congratulated the depu- ■; tation on their efforts to preserve Waihi | Bush which, he said, was of Dominion interest, at it waa the only vestige of primeval forest which Bow* remained in that part of the country. He urged the deputation to advertise more fully the scenic attractions of the district. In conclusion, Mr Burnett assured the deputation that the matters that had been brought under his notice would receive hie earnest and immediate attention.
