HUGE MARLIN SHARK ESCAPES. [THE PBEBS SpecUl Service.] AUCKLAND, May 19.. A great battle with a huge black marlin was waged by Mr H. Stonex at the Bay of Islands, when out in H. Fuller's launch. He hooked the fish off Piercy Island. It immediately headed straight out to sea, and half an hour later it poked its head out of the water. The anglers saw a huge spear half broken off in its head. Alter two hours more the fish showed its head aeain- it was still travelling seaward fife hours and 20 minutes after it was hooked, and when it wa. eleven miles out to sea the fish broke clean out of the water, swam in a batf «rcle ™ r 200 yards and then, as if it had suddenly woke up, it made a huge eplash and broke the line as if it were packing thread.
