LEWIS PASS.

CANTERBURY AND WEST COAST HIGHWAY. The Highways Committee of the Canterbury Progress League will meet on Thursday next to complete the arrangements for another party to go over the Lewis Saddle route and investigate the proposition that a road to connect Canterbury with the West Coast should be constructed on that route. Possibly the Minister for Public Works (the Hon. Mr Ransom) will accompany the party, which will include members of the committee and officers of the Public Works Department. The trip will be made possibly a fortnight hence. Members of the party will be the guests of Mr E. P. H. Burbury, of Glen Wye Station. Mr Burbury has kindly offered to make all arrangements for the accommodation of the party, and also to supply the horses required. In anticipation of the Minister for Public Works agreeing to the League's request for a survey of the route of the proposed road via the Lewis Saddle Mr Burbury has made arrangements with Mr H.£3R". D. Rogers, Culverden, to open a store at Glen Wye for the convenience of men engaged on the work. Mr Burbury is placing all the facilities of the Glen Wye Station at the disposal of Mr Rogers, who has agreed to keep in touch with the Public Works camp twice weekly.
