SHIRLEY-RICHMOND NOTES.
Personal. The friends of Mr J". P. Owers, Cleveland street, who has been in hospital, will be glad to hear he is making steady progress towards recovery. St, Stephen's Church. At a meeting held on Tuesday evening to arrange for socials during the winter, it was decided to hold fortnightly gatherings, the first of which, organised by Mrs J. it. Hervey, will tako the form of a Salmagundi entertainment, and will be held next Thursday evening. It was decided to hold a winter fair towards the end of July, the proceeds to be devoted to the church improvement fund. On Wednesday evening, Mrs T. Hamilton will address St. Stephen's branch of the Mothers' Union. Pavilion Fund, Sixteen pounds were raised at the recent jumble sale held by the Shirley Cricket Club, which has now £SO to its credit towards the fund for the erection of a pavilion in Richmond Park. Some time ago the Shirley Cricket Club approached the City Council and asked for assistance in building a pavilion in Richmond Park, pointing out the great benefit to players of a pavilion containing dressing sheds. The Council promised t< place a sum on the estimates. The club has been raising money for three years for the pavilion, which is not only a necessity, but will be a big asset both to the public of Richmond and players during summer and winter months.
