RADIO LICENSES.
FIGURES SHOW DECREASE. [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, May 3. The Postmaster-General supplies the following particulars of radio licenses in force as at April 30th, 1929. A slight amendment of the figures may be necessary vvhen the re-cliec}dng 0 f the licenses is concluded. The figures in parentheses indicate the number of licenses as at March 31st, 3929: Receiving licenses, 35,880 (44,810); dealers' licenses, 652 (1509); amateur transmitting licenses, 132 (192). The grand total of licenses in force at the end of April was 36,664, as against 46,511 at the end of March, but this is not regarded as extraordinary, as a drop is ahynys shown at the beginning of a fresh renewal period, many listeners-in being slow to renew their licenses. Tfce next batch of figures should show a considerable increase on the present totals.
