OBITUARY.
DR. W. E. WILLIAMS. The death occurred at Sura Hospital on Monday of Dr. William Ernest Williams, of Ulverston, Remuera road, Auckland. Dr. Williams was placed ashore ill from the Koyal Mail liner Niagara on April 12th, having left Auckland with the intention of spending a holiday overseas. He was recogrised as one of Auckland's leading physicians and at the time of his death he was an honorary physician at the Auckland Hospital, having been granted leave of absence for his trip ahioad. He studied at Melbourne University, where on graduating he was honours man for his yefcr. In Ifco9 he went to Auckland, going into residence at the public hospital to complete Ins training _ Later he commenced private practice at Pukekohe, and after spending some years there hi returned to the city, where he practised for many vears. He is survived by his widow, who went to Suva when he became ill, two sons, Mr L. C. Williams and Mr Nigel Williams, and one daughter.

The death has occurred of Sir Geoffrey Butler, M.P., Conservative, representing Cambridge University since 1923. He had been Parliamentary private secretary to the Secretary of State for Air since 1925.—Australian Press Association, United Service.
