COMMERCE TRAIN.
INTEREST STILL ALIVE. Thore is still a chance that the proposed tour of a Sooth Island commerce train will take pboe thi* year, u the Touring Train Committee baa not yet given up hop* of effecting * compromise with the Reitwey Department. A meeting of the ooaunittee wee held in the library of the Chamber of Commerce Buildings yesterday afternoon, when the General Manager of Railways (Mr H" H. Sterling) and the c«n»i»ercial manager (Sir P. Bodie) were also present. Others present were: Mew* M. W. Bfcevenso»> (chairman), Norton Francis C. H. OHbbarn. C. H- Bunon. W. H. Prioe, W. Hayward, and H Bradley. The Breedings were in committee, but at u»e conclusion of toe meeting the following resolution waa handeato the Presa: "Having heard the statement of the General Manager of Railways, tfaia committee is of opinion that arranaement* should be made to carry out roe proposed Canterbury train tour during the current J-ear ft a date to be considered roost suitable for the three organisations concerned, namely, the Progress League, the Chamber of Qommerce. and the Manufacturers' Association."
