PRIVATE DANCE AT SUMNER. : On Tuesday evening, Mrs I. Woolf and Miss Joy Woolf; of»Sumner, entertained a few of tlieir friends at a small dance in honour of Miss Wilson-Baudi-net, of Wellington. Dancing was en-' joyed in the lounge, and in the rockery, gaily decorated, and lit with lanterns. Supper was served. . The guests included: —Miss Wilson, Mr and Mrs C. S." Denison, Jerold street, Spreydon, when ii number of young, lady friends assembled to offer Miss-Evelyn Denison gifts and felicitations on her approacnmg 'marriage. The evening was spent in music, games; and competitions, and an enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the singing of "For She s a Jolly Good Fellow." Trained to beat out flames, a dog at Horbury, near Wakefield, England, extinguishes matches of cigarette-ends dropped by passers-by.
