HEALTH WEEK.
THE COMING CAMPAIGN. From December JBth to December 19th a Health Week-Campaign will be conducted in Christcaurcn. Last night, at the invitation of the Mayor 4Mt J. K. Archer), a public meeting was held in the City Council Chamber for the purpose of making the preliminary arrangements. The Deputy-Mayor (M* D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) presided in the, absence of the Mayor, and explained that the object of Health Week waß to give guidance on general health matters, to the public The City Couneil was in close co-operation and sympathy with any bodies desirous of promoting the health of the City, and it was hoped that a strong committee would be appointed. Councillor C. Carr, M.P., moved that a Health Week be held, the campaign to be on similar lines to those followed on previous occasions,' and that those present, who numbered sixteen, form themselves into a committee.' N Dr. H. T. J. Thacker seconded the motion, which was carried. - Dr. T. F. Telford offered bis help to the committee and also the services of his assistant. It was decided to communicate with representative organisations in the City, including the 8.M.A., asking for their co-operation. Councillor T. H. Bntterfield was appointed convener, of meetings. The following Publicity Committee was set up:—Dr. Thacker, Messrs J. B. Devereaux, C. Caw, M. Slater, R. T. Bailey, A. T. Smith, E. -A. Biddell, Mrs Denniff, and Mrs Wisely. The Mayor, Councillor G. Manning, Dr. Thacker, Messrs Slater, Bailey, and C. V. Lee were appointed an executive committee, and it was decided to hold the next meeting on Wednesday evening next.
