DISPOSAL OF RIVER CLYDE. (united press association—b? electric TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, November 27. In the House of Commons, Sir Philip Cnnliffe-Lister, replying to Viscount Sandon, reiterated the reasons why the Government sold the transport River Clyde, which landed British troops on Gallipoli. He said that the Board of Trade had no powers to re-purchase the steamer and moor her permanently at the Thames Embankment as a war relic—Australian Press Association, United Service.
