The total ftr§a under wheat iii New Zealand for the season 1928-29 is estimated at 265,000 acreS, compared with 262,799 last season ; under oats 303,000 acres compared with 308,708 last season ; under barley, 22,000 acres, compared with 21,762 last season. The following figures show the estimated areas for the North and South Island: -North Island: Wheat 3700 acres, oats 10.700, barley 2250; South Island: Wheat 251.300 acres; oats, 283,300; barley, 19,750. It is estimated that 21,100 acres (North Island 4200, South Island 16 900) will be planted in potatoes. On the average or the last five seasons tons per acre) the total yield from the estimated area shown for 1928-29 should approximate 112,674 tons, as against 121,042 tons last season. _____
