A remand until November 12tb woe granted in the esse in which Frederick Charles Rhode Clarke was charged that he wilfully, and without sufficient cause, failed to maintain his wife, who proceeded for main tenance, separation, and guardianship orders. Bail was allowed, self in ii!so,'»nd one surety of £SO or two of £26. each. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Appearing on remand, > man aged 89 yean (Mr K. G. Archer) was charged, that, on \October 29th, he . attempted to commit suicide. • , . Bub-Inspeetor Fitzpatrlck said that tne man had been depressed, and had taken poison. He had now recovered. .Accused, who had pleaded guilty, was eon victed and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. An application for the suppression of the name was granted.
KAIAPOI. (Before Mr B. D. Mosley, S.M.) Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in A. E. Appleton v. J. Stalker, claim £27 In Blackwell's, Kaiapol, Ltd., v. H. Pohio, claim £6 15s, debtor, who did not appear, was ordered to pay the amount due forthwith, in default six days' imprisonment. In J E. Smith v. G. Martin, claim £l4 16s, debtor, who did not appear, was or. dered to pay the amount of the claim fo-thwith, in default 14 days' imprisonment.
