BURNSIDE STOCK MARKET.

DUNEDIN, November 7. Prices were very firm for moat classes of fat stock at ' the Burhßide sales ' to-day. There was considerable activity at the sheep sale, prices reaching a high peak. At the commencement values advanced 2s and then rose 8s a head. The prices were the highest realised at Burnside for some "time past. Spring lambs met with » good demand and higher prices were realised for all prime sorts. Competition was brisk for fat cattle at the opening sales, and the market remained firm throughout, closing at prices on a par with those obtained at the previous Fat Sheep—There was a yarding of 1500, fully half of which were shorn. The yarding comprised very fair quality, with a good dumber of prime wethers and ewes and the', usual proportion of light-weights and unfinished sorts. The sale started at prices fully 2s' above last week's rates, and this rise was intensified to the extent of another shilling later. Towards the end of the sale pricea receded to last week's rates. Prime wethers realised 53s to 57s 6d, medium 44s to 46s 6d, light-weight, unfinished 34s to 40s prime ewes 44s to 525, medium 37s to 40s', fight 33s good shorn wethers 37s to 425, shorn wethers 30s to 335. Prime sheep sold on a basis of 7d and light 7Jd to.Bd Spring Lambs—There was a penning of 67 Some of the. lambs offered were of very good quality, and these sold well. Lightweights and medium sorts were easier than last week. Extra prime realised ,455, prime 38s to 4-2s, medium 30s to -3os, light 27s 6d to 29s 6d, a few unfinished from 18s to 235: Prime lambs sold on a basis of ;] B to Is 3t Fat Cattle—There were 270 forward, of eood quality. The majority were bullocks, with a few heifers and cows. The opening, f t i, e B ale was very slack, but the market improved and firmed later. Itoro Cattle—There was a yarding of !76. Three-year-old bullocks brought £lO 2s 6d change in the prices realised for young C yarding comprised 166 fats and fltnros - There was a steady demand for T«.V«nprß and porkers, the former selling on ItaE oli <Sd and i the latter 7£d a lb.
