LITTLE HOPE OF REFLOATING,
(tjhitbd press association—bs electbid •TBLEQRX^a—bOPTBtOHT.)
THURSDAY ISLAND, November B. The dive*, Albert, who is wanted ifa Sydney in connexion with the trial ot Silas Maling for alleged graft, and who was on his way to the East when held up, examined the Tango Maru, which went on the rocks on Saturday, and discovered art eight-loot hole under the bow. The bottom of the vessel is corrugated as if it had struck and broken off a large piece of rock. Two of its holds were flooded, and 1400 bales of wool were water-soaked. There is little hope of getting the vessel off, and even if refloated, there is considerable doubt as to whether she could be beached two miles away. The wool cargo aboard is worth jfcSJoO.OliU, including 450 bales from New Zealand. . . ~ . L The Aki Maru, of the same line; has reached Thursday Island, and is bringing back the Tango Maru's passengers to Sydney. . , . The steamer Kallatina is rendering assistance in lightering the Tango ' Maru's cargo.—-Australian Press Association.
