(UNITED I'BESS association—b» slectbio TELKQBAFH- COPYBIOHT.' SYDNEY November 6. Captain Frank Hurley, whose departure was delayed by a storm, left Wyndham at 1.41 a.m. (otherwise 3.41 a.m., Sydney time). He headed for Cape Londonderry on the extreme north-west coast of Australia, at a speed of 90 miles an hour. He will set a course for Koepang and, in the event of head winds a landing vrill be effected at Sourabaya. Captain Hurley does not intend to risk landing on an unknown inland aerodrome, surronded by high mountains, in the dark. His machine carries 300 gallons of petrol, which is sufficient for twenty-four hours. —Australian Press Association. [Captain Hurley is accompanied by Flying-Officers Moir and Owen, the 'plane being a Ryan monoplane similar to that used by Hood and Moncrieff in their tragic Tasman venture. He hopes to make the flight from Wyndham to Croydon in ten days, setting a new record, and to complete the return flight to Australia within 28 days. Kopang is in the Dutch portion of Timor Island, there being a good aerodrome there, that was constructed by Vickers for the late Sir Ross Smith.]
