HEATHCOTE NEWS.
The local troop of Girl Guides held a successful social and dance in St. Mary's Schoolroom. Mr C. Flavell was M.0., and Mrs Loney supplied the music. Extras were played by Mr M. Cogle. Recitations were contributed by Margaret Watt and songs by Miss Alma Hedgman. A. lucky-spot waits was won by Miss N, Robertson and Mr R. Newton, and a Monto Carlo by Npss Redden and Mr Poulsen. In_ the hall on Saturday a club members' evening was held and a very enjoyable time was spent in dancing. A Monte Carlo fox trot was won by Mr M. Cogle and Miss • R. Truscott, and a lucky-spot waltz by Mr R Loney and Miss I. Truscott. The music was supplied by Mrs Loney and Messrs Rogers and Cogle played extras. •• '
The showery and dismal weather did not keep away the enthusiastic members of the Heathcote Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon the occasion being the opening of the season! Mr 0. Flavell, president of the clnb, welcomed the visitors and friends, and in declaring the courts open wished the club every success. The members, then adjourned to Mr Flavell's residence, where they were the guests of Mr and- Mrs Flavell at afternoon tea.
