♦ Magistrate's Court. Messrs F. E. Sutton and "\V. C. Clear?', J.P.'s, presided at the Magistrate's Court ou Saturday. George Stewart pleaded guilty to stealing 281b oC white lead, iho property of the Union Steam Ship Co. Ho was convicted and fined £3 and costs. Harbour Light Theatre. There will bo no pictures at the Harbour Tjight Theatro to-night, the theatre having been engaged for the Lyttelton District High School concert. The reserve plan for the concert is at King and Cousins', and no re-' serves will be booked at the theatre. To-morrow, "A Trip to Chinatown," a highly amusing comedy starring Margaret Livingstone and J. I'arrell Mac Donald, will be screened. The supporting programme includes "Tumbling River," featuring Tom Mix, a comedy, and a Fox Variety. Bain Spoils Regatta. The combined opening of tho sailing and rowing seasons took place on Saturday afternoon, when the Canterbury Yacht and MotorBoat Club and tho Lyttelton Rowing Club entertained a largo number of visitors. The season was declared open by tho DeputyMayor, Cr. A. McDonald, who took the opportunity of congratulating tho Rowing Club on the great improvement shown last year, and the success of the club crews at various regattas. For the Yacht Club, Cr. McDonald presented the Tuohey Cup to F. Forinan, and the Navy Lcaguo Cup to C. Brosscll. Tho regatta arranged for the afternoon was almost completely spoiled by rain. The sailing races were abandoned owing to the cntiro absence of wind, and tho only rowing event was a four-oar race, in four heats and a fiual. The winning crew were J. Scott, E. Sinclair, J. Davis, and P. Scrra. Maui Pomare Arrives. After a flno weather trip from Apia and Niuo Island,'the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare arrived in tho stream at Lyttelton at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Pratique was granted, and the vessel berthed at 10.40 a.m. She brought passengers, mails, and fruit from the Islands. The Maui Pomare shipped 4521 cases of bananas, 120 cases of pineapples, and two tons of. cocoa-beans at Apia, and 1818 cases of bananas and one ton of general cargo at Niue. She sailed from tho latter island on Saturday, October 27th, and made an exceptionally fine passago to Lyttelton, with light, variable winds. The -fruit cargo is in good order. The following passengers arrived: —For Lyttelton.: Mr and Mrs Mitchell and child, Mr and Mrs E. Nixonr-Wcstwood, Miss Deridder, Dr. Thompson, Sergeant-Major Jenkins, Lieutenant Barry, Messrs Hudson Barraclough, Busch. For Wellington: Judgo Aches'on (Native Land Court), SergeantMajor Harvey, Misses Ester (2), Messrs Marbrook and Marshall. For Auckland: Mrs Allan, Misses Bainbridgo (2), Messrs Felix, and Champtaloup. Mr F. A. Wilson is now chief officer of tho Maui Pomaro, and Mr Maloncy is third officer. The Maui Pomare is timed to sail at 6 o'clock this evening for Wellington and Auckland.
